Whole30 Feature

After completing three rounds of Whole30, and while getting ready to dominate my fourth, I was approached by the Whole30 Social Media team to see if I would be interested in sharing my transformation with their audiences.

We were on vacation in Taiwan when our tour bus stopped at the Tropic Of Cancer monument. We waited in line to get pictures with it, and as we finally made our way to the monument, the heavens opened and it started pouring rain! My husband snapped a single picture of me cracking up and I had to be satisfied with it as we ran back to the bus. It reminded me of all of the mental changes Whole30 had given me. I wasn't asking for a million pictures so I could get the perfect angle; I wasn't sucking it all in trying to get the best look; I wasn't wearing SPANX on vacation in the heat and hating life! So I posted a comparison to my instagram between our first trip to Taiwan in 2015 and this 2017 trip:

Whole30 folks commented letting me know they were interested in my Whole30 story, and when I got home I sent it over to them with this picture:

I knew they were going to share on their Whole30 Facebook and Whole30 Instagram accounts, but it was still shocking when I scrolled and saw my face, along with my comparison shot, and the words that I had written about how Whole30 was changing my life!

"In 2014 I started a Whole30 and lasted 5 days. It was bad, and my husband and I gave up. That summer we moved to Okinawa, Japan and I knew it would be impossible to do a Whole30 with limited resources so I thought I would try again when we moved back to the U.S.

Cut to this summer: we were extended in Okinawa, I was sinking in depression trying to overcome a personal issue, and I was so fed up feeling sorry for myself. I always wanted to lose weight for my husband, so that I could live a long, happy life with him and enjoy his retirement. Something clicked and I knew it was time to get healthy FOR ME. And that's what I did.

We threw away every single thing in our kitchen that wasn't compliant, went to the grocery store, and decided to start on July 5th. MY Independence Day.

I made a list of all of the reasons I wanted to do Whole30. There were so many things bothering me; I wrote them all down and jumped feet first into Whole30!

I made my own mayonnaise; tried kombucha and collagen; committed to trying one new recipe a week from the bloggers on @whole30recipes; and just pushed through. I FELT AMAZING! I knew I couldn't undo 33 years of bad habits in 30 days, so I decided to do multiple Whole30s.

I can't remember the last time I had heartburn. My cravings are under control. My PCOS is better and my irregular cycle is under control. AWESOME skin. Sleeping better. MORE ENERGY. My mood is more stable and I don't get angry as quickly. I’m finally losing weight I've been struggling my entire adult life to lose.

I tell everyone and anyone about Whole30 and how they should be doing it! I'm happy and confident in a way I never knew I wasn't! "Give it 30 days..." I tell them, "it really will change your life!"
